Check for lice: a dermatologist explained why the head itches

Skin diseases: psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis

Another large group of problems in which itching on the scalp is one of the brightest and most typical manifestations. In addition to itching, these diseases have a host of other manifestations that are often very upsetting and embarrassing.

Psoriasis is a hereditary disease associated with problems of the epidermis and the immune system. The person does not look very neat, but at the same time does not pose any infectious danger: large scaly plaques with white scales on the skin of the body, head and limbs – not contagious. They bring discomfort and inconvenience only to their owner.

Seborrheic dermatitis – this is an inflammatory process on the skin in the scalp and seborrheic zones (face, upper chest and back). The process is accompanied by itching. The head does not look very well-groomed due to greasy scales and crusts. But it does not pose a danger in terms of infecting others.

Both of these diseases, alas, for life, the treatment is individual and it is carried out strictly under the supervision of a physician.
