But the picture of the plight of the veterans, who have to carry people like this for years, is going viral. A picture from a wildlife conservation group in Thailand is going viral on social media. Elephants are known for their size and strength. But the image has been shared with the note that this is the harm done to them by riding elephants for years. A picture of an elephant named Pai Lin, who was very popular with elephant riders in Thailand, has been shared. The film shows that the 71-year-old Pithiana has lost her body shape due to riding for the past 25 years. Pai Lin, who works in the tourism sector, has to carry six people out every time. According to the media including CNN, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has explained that the elephant has sores in many parts of the body and all the body tissues and bones are in a state of decay.
Elephant riding is one of the important tourist attractions in South Asian countries. Elephants are commonly used for trekking and logging. Wildlife groups claim that other elephants are suffering from malnutrition. Pai Lin is with the Wildlife Friends Foundation in Thailand. Pai Lin arrived here in 2006. Pai Lin’s owner brought the elephant to the Wildlife Friends Foundation explaining that it might not work well and was not fast enough.
Tom Taylor, a wildlife conservationist and director of the Wildlife Friends Foundation, explains that elephants are not built to carry large loads. Tom Taylor adds that tourists cause permanent damage to elephants. The foundation currently has 24 elephants that have been rescued from various forms of violence.
