Enraged by Mitsotaki’s statements in the ministerial office, she denounced an attempt to evade responsibility for the tragedy in Tempi
The government was sharply criticized by the opposition, major and minor, which was angered by Mitsotakis’ statements to the cabinet, denouncing an operation to evade responsibility for the unspeakable tragedy in Tempi. The beginning was made by SYRIZA, through the press representative of the party, Popis Tsapanidou, who commented that the apology and acceptance of responsibility are not consistent with “everyone’s fault” nor with fake, as she characterized, resignations of ministers that will be once more in a few days candidates.
“Mr. Mitsotakis must understand that he did not become prime minister the day before yesterday but has been governing for the last four years. And he leads a faction that ruled for almost half of the years since the Postcolonial era” he commented, adding that “there come moments when the substance surpasses the communication and no American communicator can fix them”.
The government representative Yiannis Oikonomou responded to Popi Tsapanidou, arguing that the prime minister took the responsibility that belongs to the government for the tragedy of Tempo and that SYRIZA’s permanent response to the initiatives that have been undertaken is that the trains in Greece were working perfectly during his days and the Mitsotakis government dissolved them.
At the same time, Harilaou Trikoupi is also firing at the government, through Dimitris Mantzou, who commented: “Unfortunately, the prime minister continues in a cynical manner with the communication management of the tragedy. He assumes responsibility only in words, while in essence he shares it with everyone.” The PASOK press representative also complained that Mr. Mitsotakis does not have the credibility and solvency to talk regarding the reconstruction of the state and the rebirth of the country.
Meanwhile, the KKE in its harsh statement spoke of the hypocrisy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis “who reached the point of trying to blame today’s rotten and criminal state in general on some “pathogens” and “guilds” and above all on themselves workers, while it is the state of capital and profit that its government serves, like all the previous ones”. As for Kyriakos Velopoulos, he pointedly commented that “when we hear the Greek prime minister using even illegal material and we don’t hear regarding wristbands and prison and property confiscations of all those involved in the history of the train, we are saddened”.
MeRA25 commented that the images of “photogenic, communicatively edited mourning by the most enthusiastic implementers of austerity that have completely destroyed the country’s infrastructure” are offensive.
