Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Syrian presidency published a video clip of a call made by Asma al-Assad, the wife of the Syrian president, with a Syrian girl who was injured in the deadly earthquake that struck Syria on February 6.
A call took place via video conference technology between Asma al-Assad and a 9-year-old girl named Sham, and some of her family members died in the earthquake.
Sham was transferred, along with other children, from Aleppo, Idlib, and Latakia to the United Arab Emirates for treatment, where she is currently in Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, according to the Syrian presidency’s statement via Twitter.
The wife of the Syrian president also made contact with the child Ali Tafouh (9 years old), whose mother and father died in the earthquake, as well as with the father of the child Ali Youssef (12 years old) who are in Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
These children were injured by what is called “crushing the limbs” due to the earthquake, and they were transferred to the UAE through a humanitarian initiative by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation in the UAE.
