For the first time, a woman takes over the office of Ombudsman for the Disabled
Vienna (OTS) – The Aid Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austria welcomes the appointment of Christine Steger as Austria’s new advocate for the disabled.
“With Christine Steger, a committed and competent woman who brings a lot of experience to the table takes on the role of advocate for disabled people. We wish you every success in the numerous tasks in this important area and look forward to working together,” says press spokeswoman Helga Bachleitner, welcoming the Minister of Health’s decision.
Christine Steger has chaired the Independent Monitoring Committee since 2018, which monitors the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Christine Steger has also headed the Family, Gender, Disability & Diversity department at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg for many years.
