Microsoft has confirmed that it won’t be at the E3 show this year, but has provided continued support saying it will be co-streaming Xbox Games Showcase as part of E3 Digital. (via IGN)
“We look forward to hosting our Xbox Games Showcase on June 11 and will share more details later,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. IGN. “We are also looking forward to co-streaming our event as part of E3 Digital and will not be on the E3 showfloor.”
News Confirms Xbox Lead Phil Spencer words saying that Microsoft would continue to support the Entertainment Software Association despite previous reports that the company would not physically attend the event.
“Xbox is on the board of ESA, and I think a successful and healthy ESA is critical to what we’re trying to do,” Spencer said at the time. “So we’re placing our showcase, as we always have, at a time when hopefully it’s convenient for the press and even consumers heading to the E3 event, and that’s what we are trying to do now. We will continue to work with ESA on their plans. As I said, we are part of the board and we want to make sure that we do everything we can to contribute to the success of E3.
As mentioned, Microsoft is planning its presentation of Xbox games close to the E3 event. This should take place before the Developer_Direct dedicated to Starfield on June 11th. In the meantime, it is already certain that Nintendo and Sony will not participate in the event. The former has already confirmed this, while Sony’s reported conflict with the ESA ensures that the company will ignore it once more, which started in 2019.
