The last time we heard regarding the implementation of the Touch ID sob a tela in a future iPhone was in October last year, when the renowned journalist Mark Gurman stated that Apple had already tested the technology, but it was unlikely that it would arrive in future devices.
Now, however, the leaker yeux1122 said the under-display fingerprint reader might be released in the near future. two or three years — that is, until 2026.
The publication makes reference to Apple having made some progress regarding the Touch ID embedded in the screen and, due to the current level of development, it would be ready to launch in the next two years, at least.
The system — which already has regarding 12 related patents — would combine shortwave infrared with an optical system, making it possible to identify the user’s venous pattern, in addition to measuring the oxygen saturation in the blood and the user’s pulse rate. ????
It would also have a fast recognition rate, being able to identify if the person is wearing gloves and if the fingers are wet or dry. However, to implement these functions and improve the recognition speed, parts that contain single-element sensors, such as photodiodes, phototransistors, photosensitive elements, among others, are needed.
O leaker does not rule out, however, that the company would be working on a screen also with built-in Face ID, which is in line with other rumors. Facial recognition technology, he said, would be launched first and fingerprint technology soon following.
When Apple announced Face ID, we thought we’d never hear of Touch ID once more—until it appeared revamped into the power buttons on iPads. With so much rumors and patents, it seems that the company really hasn’t given up on the technology.
We’ll see if both will come true…
