Gritsch is on course for the podium in giant slalom

The Tyrolean Franziska Gritsch is in third place following the first round of the giant slalom in Aare, Sweden.

The Tyrolean is 0.93 seconds behind the leading Mikaela Shiffrin, who might draw level with the all-time leader Ingemar Stenmark with her 86th World Cup victory. Second is Canadian Valeria Grenier (+0.58).

Things are not going according to plan for the other Austrians, none of them make it into the top 15. Julia Scheib (17th), Stephanie Brunner (20th), Ramona Siebenhofer (21st) and Elisabeth Kappaurer (22nd) are in the second round ( from 1 p.m.) with you. Katharina Liensberger missed the qualification for the decision of the top 30 with a deficit of 4.12 seconds. Elisa Mörzinger from the Mühlviertel was out.
