Quebecers are among the least indebted in the country, according to a recent report by Equifax Canada 2022.
Thus, the average debt in Quebec in 2022 was $18,495, compared to $21,121 for Canada, according to the Equifax Canada 2022 report.
Conversely, indebtedness in Alberta is higher than the Canadian average at $24,724, followed by Newfoundland and Labrador ($23,008) and Saskatchewan ($22,428). The province with the lowest debt is Manitoba with $17,073, followed by Quebec.
As for cities, Fort McMurray, Alberta has the highest debt load by far, at $37,908, followed by St. John’s, Newfoundland-to-Labrador (23,577 $).
Montreal, however, is the city with the lowest debt at $16,416.
