Sepsis is a condition that can be fatal and is due to the presence of pathogenic germs (bacteria, virus or fungus) in the blood. Here are the signs that can reveal an infection.
Palpitations
This generalized infection of the organism of infectious origin can cause palpitations, an elevated heart rate, and difficulty in breathing.
A high fever
Often it is accompanied by chills and high fever. Note, however, that in some patients, there may be, on the contrary, a drop in body temperature.
anxiety
In case of sepsis, or “blood poisoning”, chronic psychological disorders, such as anxiety episodes, may also occur.
Intense abdominal pain
Another sign: intense abdominal pain, which is accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting. In France, more than 250,000 cases of sepsis are recorded every year.
A decrease in urine
Symptoms in the urinary system may also appear. Specifically, urination may become infrequent and scanty.
