The Venezuelan Football Federation made official the departure of the coaching staff under the command of José Pekerman, news that the DT environment had already confirmed but that has become official amid controversies.

“The Venezuelan Football Federation officially communicates the termination of the employment relationship with Pascual Lezcano and José Néstor Pekerman,” the statement begins.

Why mention the manager to the coach? It is clear in what order the annoyance that ends with the abrupt end of the process that hoped to lead the team to the 2026 World Cup would have occurred.

But there are more details that call for reflection: “For the FVF it is essential that all those who make up our work team share the highest standards of commitment and dedication,” he adds. “Therefore we will continue working to guarantee that these standards are met, giving our best for our sport, with professionalism, seriousness and rigor.”

Obviously, the FVF makes it clear that there was a breach and that there are inconveniences related to lack of “professionalism, seriousness and rigor”, which, judging by the terms of the statement, would have to do with the controversial manager, who in the stage of Pekerman in Colombia was pointed out, although up to now no concrete evidence of mismanagement has been presented.

Various Venezuelan journalists have spoken of the possible intervention of businessmen and other indelicacies that the leadership would not have liked. The truth is that Pekerman is no longer the DT and that he especially loses Venezuelan football, which is left without structure in all his teams, since the Argentine had assumed control of seniors and youth.
