DUBAI, 8th March / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, today witnessed a ceremony Graduating 477 male and female candidates, undergraduates and graduates of foundation courses at the Dubai Police Academy.
The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Supreme President of the Emirates Airlines Group, His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Corporation, and Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff. Armed Forces, as well as a number of military and police leaders in the country and senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Arab delegations, guests of the World Police Summit, in addition to parents and relatives of graduates.
The ceremony began upon the arrival of His Highness, the Crown Prince of Dubai, to the main podium in the Academy Square, with the playing of the national anthem. After that, His Highness inspected the graduates’ queue, then the audience listened to the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
Then Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Mohammed Butti Al Shamsi, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, delivered a speech in which he welcomed His Highness, the sponsor of the ceremony and the attendees at the Dubai Police Academy, the scientific edifice that contributes to the graduation of generations of qualified security cadres equipped with all sciences, knowledge and skills, so that they can carry out their duty in maintaining security. Preserving public order and protecting the homeland and its gains.
Al Shamsi explained during his speech that the Dubai Police Academy works to prepare graduates, expand their perceptions, refine their personalities and ideas, and arm them with academic and military knowledge, to be future leaders, and qualified to assume the responsibilities that await them and implement the duties and tasks assigned to them.
He added: “The Dubai Police Academy, thanks to the support of the wise leadership, has established the highest academic and military standards in shaping the future, in order to achieve development and sustainability in the security education and training system. Then the graduates made a presentation in front of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which included formations that reflected the extent of their absorption of all military training and skills that they received during their studies at the academy, and highlighted the high level of discipline and physical fitness that they enjoy.
After that, His Highness, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and alongside him, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Director of the Academy, honored the outstanding students, as His Highness awarded them medals of excellence, and congratulated them on their creativity, each in his field, and His Highness wished them more success in their practical career.
After that, the flag handover ceremony took place from the 30th to the 31st session, accompanied by their swearing to keep the flag raised high.
Prior to the departure of the parade line, the graduates swore to be loyal to the United Arab Emirates and its president, to respect its constitution and laws, and to preserve its security and safety, protecting its flag, obedient to all orders issued by their superiors in all circumstances and times.
At the end of the ceremony, memorial photos were taken of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with members of the Dubai Police Academy faculty and graduates.
In the context of His Highness the Crown Prince of Dubai’s keenness to encourage women in all disciplines, His Highness met on the sidelines of the ceremony with the two officers, Shamma Al Buflasa, and Lieutenant Dana Al Souri, and listened to their experiences regarding the officer preparation program at the New York Police Academy, to be the first female police officers to pass this specific training from outside. His Excellency also congratulated the male and female graduate students and parents on this distinguished achievement, stressing the importance of good preparation of the human element as a pillar for achieving qualitative achievements with which the UAE continues its blessed path, and he noted the role of the Dubai Police General Command in consolidating this aspect by working on developing qualified military cadres and graduating police officers. He has a degree of competence and readiness to continue strengthening the process of security and safety in Dubai and the UAE, which supports the country’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and comprehensive renaissance in various fields.
This year, the ceremony included the graduation of four batches, namely, batch (30) of students nominated for the Bachelor’s program in Law and Police Sciences, batch (2) of students nominated for a bachelor’s program in Security and Criminal Sciences, and batch (2) of female students nominated for a bachelor’s program in Security and Criminal Sciences. And the batch (28) of university students and (5) of university women.
The ceremony also included the graduation of 477 male and female students this year in various security and legal fields, and at various scientific levels, with 57 candidates for the 30th batch in the Bachelor of Law and Police Sciences program, 38 candidates for the second batch of students in the Bachelor of Security and Criminal Sciences program, and 21 female candidates. In the same program, in addition to celebrating the graduation of 98 male and female university students, and 263 graduates of foundation courses, both male and female.
