For his contribution in the formation of human capital and development of science in rheumatology, doctor of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon Dionicio Angel Galarza Delgado was awarded recognition “Master of Mexican Rheumatology 2023”.
This distinction was delivered on February 17 during the inauguration of the Mexican Congress of Rheumatology held in Merida, Yucatan.
“This recognition is entirely shared with the University and the Faculty of Medicine, since I have developed my entire teaching career here for 35 years, so it also commits me even more to continue in a profession that practically never ends”, expressed the also professor of the School of Medicine from the UANL.

A world class clinic
the scientist level II in it National Research System of the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt) highlights that one of his greatest contributions to this area of medicine is having founded in 2014 the Cardio-Rheuma Clinic of the University Hospital of the UANL.
It is a preventive clinic focused on early detection and timely treatment of cardiovascular complications in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases. This HU clinic is the first and only to operate in Latin America and is the fourth worldwide. On average, around 100 patients are treated per year.
A passionate regarding medicine
The Head of the Rheumatology Service of the University Hospital, Dionicio Galarza, argues that what he is most passionate regarding in this area of medicine is that it can help change the lives of patients, as well as being a very active agent in this transformation of the quality of life of people with this health problem.
My greatest satisfaction is when I receive patients following treating them for a while and see how they recover their quality of life and functionality. The fact that a patient tells you: ‘now I can do everything and enjoy life’, that is one of the greatest satisfactions that one can have as a doctor”.
