SHARJAH, 7th March, WAM, The “Knowledge and Education: A New Start and Promising Future” forum held by the American University of Sharjah under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, discussed the exchange of ideas and research on best practices and innovative solutions to challenges. Which educational facilities face, in the presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the University.
The forum is an important platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences and vision to provide future generations with the basic skills and competencies required for the changing labor market.
During the forum, the American University of Sharjah presented its achievements in the field of research and development through a dialogue with a group of alumni, side talks, roundtable discussion sessions and presentations.
The forum, which brought together local and international policy makers and thought leaders from the American University of Sharjah alumni, focused on topics related to biomedical and medical technology, biomedical revolutions and artificial intelligence, in conjunction with the American University of Sharjah’s silver jubilee celebrations.
In a session titled “Voices of Community Leaders,” His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, highlighted the importance of investing in youth and education for economic sustainability, pointing out that the American University of Sharjah continues to make a sustainable positive impact on the lives of Emirati and Arab youth. In a session titled “The Next Round: Addressing New Realities and Creating a Sustainable Learning Ecosystem,” Hamid Jaafar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crescent Group, and Bader Jaafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and Managing Director of Crescent Group, joined Dr. A map of the current state of the education sector highlighting the need for adequate infrastructure and education system.
Humaid Jaafar praised the efforts of the American University of Sharjah and its pioneering position in world-class education under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr.
World Economic Forum figures indicate that by 2035, 80% of today’s jobs will be obsolete, confirming the urgent need to facilitate open and honest discussions to find critical educational solutions to future challenges. The current challenge is youth unemployment, as 40% of youth in the Middle East region North Africans are not getting productive jobs despite having higher levels of education.
Bader Jaafar said: “We need to see systems that are more human-centered, less focused on building technical skills, and more capable of developing people and developing soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, empathy, and a focus on mental health. No matter what disruptions come our way, these skills will stand the test of time.” .
For her part, Dr. Susan Momm shed light on the global challenges that affect educational priorities, emphasizing the need to provide young people with basic skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and emotional intelligence to ensure that they remain the best choice for employers.
