Missy May dances on March 10th at “Dancing Stars” on ORF 1

Choreographer and director Kim Duddy at 8:15 p.m. guest judge

Vienna (OTS) News from the “Dancing Stars”! After Karina Sarkissova left the show early for health reasons and on the recommendation of a doctor, there will be a new addition to the ranks of candidates on the second show of the ORF 1 dance event on Friday, March 10, 2023, live on ORF 1 from 8:15 p.m , when singer, actress and presenter Missy May enters the dance floor together with Dimitar Stefanin. Since the neo-candidate appears in front of the jury and the audience in Austria’s most glamorous ballroom for the first time this week, she receives a wild card for her dance premiere and thus automatically moves into the next round. The audience can also look forward to another new face in the “Dancing Stars” in the second show – choreographer and director Kim Duddy is the guest judge of the week for the first decision! Further information on the ORF success show moderated by Mirjam Weichselbraun and Andi Knoll is available at presse.ORF.at.

ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz: “I would like to thank Karina Sarkissova, who really gave everything to be part of ‘Dancing Stars’. I wish her all the best and I fully understand her decision – the safety and well-being of our participants is always our top priority. Missy May’s spontaneous acceptance is fortunate for the show and I’m sure she will be a wonderful addition to our Dancing Stars.”

Missy May: “First of all I want to wish Karina all the best and that she gets back on her feet soon. I don’t see myself as a substitute because you can’t replace Karina Sarkissova. It will be my job to support the great Dimitar and to be his best possible dance partner. I’m looking forward to this challenge because it definitely is – let’s go to rehearsals!”

Karina Sarkissova: “I am incredibly sad that I can no longer be part of this magical show. I would like to thank my dance partner, the ORF, the director, the ‘Dancing Stars’ band and ‘Dancing Stars’ family. And first of all, I’m so sad because I have to disappoint my fans and everyone who called for me. But the doctors warned me that if I continued to strain, I would have to reckon with irreparable damage and, in the worst case, I would never be able to dance once more.”

Kim Duddy on duty as a guest judge

The choreographer and director Kim Duddy studied classical ballet in New York and then worked as an actress on Broadway for many years before she ended up in Vienna for “Cats”. Since then she has shaped the European theater landscape with her work for musicals, operas and operettas. She returned to her classical roots in the 90s as ballet director at the Volksoper in Vienna. She wrote two musicals and choreographed the world premieres of “I’ve never been to New York” and “I am from Austria” as well as performances for shows by Peter Alexander and Rainhard Fendrich.

Kim Duddy: “My parents were ballroom dancers and I learned a lot from them from a young age, which later had a big impact on my early career. When I work with singers who have absolutely no prior knowledge of dance, it is exciting to work out together how they can access a movement in their body so that it seems natural and is fun – the joy of dancing is in every body . I am sure I will have a lot of fun watching and hopefully I can pass on a little of my experience as a choreographer to the contestants!”

Maria Santner and Balázs Ekker are the Fix-Jury
