The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has recognized the activities of the international non-governmental organization Transparency International, which specializes in the fight once morest corruption, as undesirable.

We are talking regarding Transparency International, headquartered in Berlin, “whose leadership is carried out by citizens of foreign countries,” the department specifies, reports the BBC.

In Russia, a well-known international organization operates under the name Transparency International-R, a Russian NPO founded by Russian citizens. In 2015, Transparency International-R was included in the register of “foreign agents” by the Russian Ministry of Justice.

Previously, other media and investigative organizations were also declared undesirable – The Project, Important Stories, Bellingcat and The Insider. Cooperation with “undesirable organizations” in Russia provides for criminal liability.
