Samsung Galaxy Tab S9: rumors suggest three new models and launch in August

Update (06/03/23) – RS

A Samsung must bring to market three top-of-the-line versions of the Galaxy Tab S9, as you’d expect. Even if the company has done this with the Tab S8 line, it is still not possible to know exactly what it plans for the new series of tablets. After all, the release schedule works differently compared to mobile phones.

An example of this is that the manufacturer brought the Tab S8 line to the market a year and a half following launching the Tab S7 and S7+ models in 2020. Furthermore, it is not known whether it will follow this same idea to launch the new tablets to the market this year. But if that happens, it is likely that the new items will be announced in August.

In other words, it’s basically the same time that Samsung used to release its foldable devices, as well as its smartwatches. In this way, there is a possibility that we will see the new Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Watch S6 and Tab S9, S9+ and S9 Ultra all launched together. In that sense, the Tab S8 FE might also arrive at that time.

That said, the models should come in unlocked versions with mobile internet support, namely: SM-X718U, SM-X818U e SM-X918U. Also, Wi-Fi only models will be “SM-X710, SM-X810 e SM-X910” and variants with 5G “SM-X716B, SM-X816B e SM-X916B“.

In addition, not much is known regarding the line of tablets other than rumors that speculate the possibility of products being launched with IP67 certification. That is, they would be models with resistance to water and dust. Still, nothing has been officially confirmed by the manufacturer.

Meanwhile, Tab S7 users are already enjoying update with One UI 5.1, which hit the device on the 1st of this month.

Update (02/23/2023) – MR

Samsung’s flagship tablets didn’t come with IP67 certification for resistance to liquids and dust. However, this might change in 2023, according to exclusive information from SamMobile.

Apparently, the South Korean Galaxy Tab S9 line will come with certification, a long-standing desire of many consumers.

In the past, some tablets in the Active line came with certifications for resistance to liquids, but none of the company’s flagship tablets had it. This was considered unusual, especially when even the South Korean folding devices had the certification, but not the Galaxy Tab S8 series.

The problem is that when we stop to reflect, it is strange that a more complex device like a foldable one comes with liquid resistance, but the latest generation tablets do not. Anyway, Samsung would be considering fixing this flaw by bringing IP67 certification to the Galaxy Tab S9 line.

However, according to SamMobile, this is not right. At the moment, the South Korean evaluates the idea, but it is not uncommon for her to change her mind. For example, it was almost certain that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would bring space for the S-Pen, but it seems that the South Korean has given up on that plan.

The Galaxy Tab S9 line is eagerly awaited and might bring the best Android tablets of 2023. The addition of IP67 certification would make it even more attractive and one of the top on the market. According to rumors, the launch of the flagship series has been delayed and should not happen before the second half of 2023.

Samsung may change release schedule for Galaxy Tab S9 line and tablets should not hit the market in the first quarter of next year. The information was confirmed by The Elec.

According to people who work at Samsung, the change is happening because the manufacturer has postponed the development of new tablets.

This change in Samsung’s positioning is happening because the company noticed that there is a drop in the global demand for IT equipment. In addition, high inflation and the crisis in the Eurozone have made demand for tablets and other electronic devices drop.

These sources also stated that Samsung usually starts developing its new tablets in the last quarter of each year, with the Galaxy Tab S9 line not expected to enter Samsung’s radar until January 2023.

Therefore, the most viable option for the company is launch the tablets in the second half of 2023. That is, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5 and other wearable devices.

For now, Samsung does not comment on the matter, but DSCC says there is a considerable drop in demand for tablets this year. The only niche that still has some expectation of growth is premium, since this audience is not so affected by the crisis.
