ANSES and the CEA join forces to strengthen technological innovation in the service of health safety | handles

The CEA and ANSES are already collaborating on research aimed at improving the detection and characterization of pathogens and physical and chemical contaminants, particularly in the fight once morest the biological and chemical terrorist threat in France.

In view of the complementarity of their missions, ANSES and the CEA have decided to combine their skills in areas with major health implications. Thus, the two organizations formalize today, a unique partnership which aims to put the innovative technologies developed by the CEA at the service of actions in the field for the detection, fight and prevention of health risks.

As part of this partnership, a dozen collaborative projects will allow for example:

  • the development of bio-collection devices or sensors to collect and detect early on siteat farm or crop level, a very broad spectrum of pathogens ;
  • the evaluation of lipid nanoparticles to deliver vaccines (e.g.: Campylobacter in poultry production);
  • the establishment of a rapid intervention cell for the identification of emerging viruses in animals as well as the development of detection tests and vaccines, in order to offer the public authorities a rapid response in the event of a crisis sanitary.

These different areas of scientific collaboration testify to the shared desire of ANSES and the CEA to develop technological innovation in the service of health safety.

The CEA is a public research organization which operates in four areas: defense and security, nuclear and renewable energies, technological research for industry and fundamental research. Relying on a recognized capacity of expertise, the CEA participates in the implementation of collaborative projects with numerous academic and industrial partners. With its 20,000 researchers and employees, it is a major player in the European research area and has a growing international presence. Its technological research department creates technological innovation to improve business competitiveness through performance and product differentiation. It deploys this dynamic in all French regions by supporting its local partners in their innovation process, and thus contributes to the creation of value and sustainable jobs in the territory as closely as possible to industrial needs.
