When the real estate market freezes, a real estate agent who lowers the shot

Licensed real estate agents who have recently opened their business have greater anxiety than expectations regarding opening a business. This is because as the real estate market freezes due to the continuing economic downturn, more and more existing brokerages are closing their businesses.

According to the Korea Licensed Realtors Association, the number of real estate agents who opened in January was 1,273. This was only 32 more than the total of 1,241 licensed real estate agents (1,111) and brokers (130) who chose to close their businesses.

For the first time since July of last year, the number of licensed real estate agents surpassed those that closed or closed, but considering that January is a time when many qualified real estate agents open their businesses, the number of openings did not reach the average level.

In January of last year, the number of brokers opened was 1993, closed and closed 1059, January 2021 was 1833 and 970, and January 2020 was 2082 and 1365, respectively. Since the Certified Realtors Association compiled statistics in 2015, the number of private brokers as of January was the lowest this year (1,273).

Among them, a total of 329 real estate agents were closed or closed.

In the case of southern Gyeonggi Province, there were 245 certified brokers who opened in January 2023, while 25 closed and 200 closed, showing a similar level to opening and closing.

In the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, 109 licensed brokers opened their businesses during the same period, 6 of them closed, and 98 applied for closure.

The industry sees the large number of real estate agents temporarily out of business as evidence of a recession. The number of real estate agents closed in January was 130, exceeding 100 for the third month following November (106) and December (164).

An official from the Realtor Association said, “There is an announcement of passing the real estate agent in December, so even though December, January, and February are the months with many openings, business is not going well because the real estate market is not good, and as this news continues to spread, compared to the same year “The number of openings has declined,” he said.
