▸The solidarity concert to support the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria was postponed to Monday, March 6, as following the state-class crime that took place in Tempe, we thought that the most correct thing is to support the mobilization called by agencies, unions and collectives on the evening of Wednesday, March 1, at the offices of the Italian company Hellenic Train.
This is a foretold tragedy, a premeditated crime by the wretched ND government and the previous SYRIZA-ANEL government who sold out, fired, dissolved and all they cared regarding was turning TRAINOSE from “the most loss-making railway company in Europe” into “profitable private”, defiantly ignoring the consequences, resulting in dozens of people losing their lives and hundreds injured, mostly young people.
The image of the helpless people from the state apparatus is not too distant for the Turkish people who are still suffering from the earthquakes in the region. Very recently we have been spectators of similar projects in our country with the fires and floods that are added to the long list of disasters every year. Natural phenomena are not responsible for the chronic pathologies of residential development, workers in a train station are not responsible, it is the government and the state that implement projects and infrastructures that are decided on the basis of the profitability of capital and companies and not on the basis of popular needs, with the absence of infrastructure maintenance and strengthening projects, when in fact the policies of allocating excessive funds for military expenditures continue on both sides of the Aegean.
That is why we continue to promote solidarity and sing for the solidarity and peace of the peoples, expressing support for those who lost loved ones in the accident in Tempi, but also for the neighboring peoples, the working class and the popular strata that continue to be tested.
So on Monday, March 6 at Ilion plus we sing with Mira and Alexandros Ktistakis, Hyperastiki, Nomik, while a rebetiko feast will follow with Vassilis Liontos, Valentinos Stamatiadis, Vassilis Sofias, Christos Panagiotou, Filippos Passalidis, Elena Avramiotis, Fani Kavouras and Fotini Renzis, who show their solidarity in practice. Because for us it is clear that only the people save the people.
From 7.30 p.m. and then we sing collectively and financially support those who are really in need. The money will be transferred in cooperation with left-wing parties and labor organizations without the mediation of the Turkish state. It is the least heroic act once morest brutality. Their terrorism, exploitation and death will not win: Life and freedom will win.
All proceeds will go to the families of the victims and the injured fighters.
