Boxer-actor Deano Clavet is not used to admitting defeat and if we had to bet on the identity of the first ousted of the season of “Get me out of here!” certainly not him who would have obtained the most votes.
The 62-year-old man only spent 24 hours in the Costa Rican jungle, where the first season of the TVA reality show was filmed last summer by Productions Déferlantes.
At the end of the first Jungle Gala, which aired this Sunday, he was eliminated following removing his bug-filled bubble helmet before the end of the elimination challenge, allowing the other two campers in danger, Andréanne A. Malette and to Marianne St-Gelais, to continue their journey.
Deano will have “been too destabilized”, which is all the same the goal of the program hosted by Alexandre Barrette and Jean-Philippe Dion.
“It’s like the script just doesn’t suit me,” he said. He expected to take part in a resolutely more sporting adventure, he who had not inquired too much regarding the type of competition in which he was making the leap. He also underlines the courage of his comrades who went further than him in this show, which is the most popular on the small screen on Sunday evenings.
“I thought I was going to dive, I was going to swim a mile to get a basket of food, I was going to jump out of a tree, climb, run through the jungle with a spear and catch my game, the cut it up and bake it myself, but that wasn’t it.”
It must be said that Deano, who had already made “Fort Boyard” in 1997, made a remarkable entrance alongside Andréanne A. Malette when the two were being sprayed with “a 45 gallons of vomit on their heads!”, locked in a tiny closet.
Then as part of the wheel of misfortune challenge, he had to eat a fish eye, a cockroach in noni juice and a beef testicle.
Dr. François Marquis, Jean-François Mercier, Marianne St-Gelais and he managed to amass eight stars out of a possible twelve during this event, allowing Nathalie Simard to have a birthday dinner as it should be – for her 53 -, with ingredients other than the usual portion of rice and beans.
Hungry – which reminded him of his strict diet during his 11 years of boxing – and tired of not being able to sleep – there was a light next to his bed – Deano was exhausted, disorganized and haunted by flashbacks linked to his sporting career. All this in 24 hours!
“If I had been given bread, I would have done anything, because I am not afraid of anything. I also believe that I spoke too quickly in the interview before the show.
Deano Clavet continues to interpret the godfather during thematic evenings, he who looks like two drops of water to Marlon Brando in the films of Francis Ford Coppola. He will soon fly to Buffalo and Los Angeles to transform himself into Don Vito Corleone once more.
He also continues to be close to boxing since he has recently been teaching this sport at Inter Action 127, in Lachute, his hometown for two decades. The reality show “Get me out of here!” is broadcast every Sunday, at 6:30 p.m., on TVA, just before “La Voix”.
