Thirteen people burned to death this Sunday in the Peruvian region of Ancash, north of Lima, following a collision between a bus and a motorcycle taxi.
According to the authorities, the incident occurred during the early hours of the morning at kilometer 380 of the Panamericana Norte highway, in the Casma province of that region, regarding 370 km north of Lima.
“So far we have reported thirteen dead people, who are completely charred,” a source from the acting police station told the AFP agency, whose forensic experts are verifying the fingerprints of the victims to identify them.
The bus, whose driver was detained by the police, was carrying more than 50 passengers to Lima from the Piura region (north).
Police and fire brigades arrived this Sunday morning to recover the charred bodies trapped in the body of the burned vehicles.
At the moment it was reported that another seven passengers were injured, who were transferred to the Casma Support Hospital. Two of them were sent to the Eleazar Guzmán Regional Hospital in Nuevo Chimbote.
Among the deceased is the driver of the motorcycle taxi and four minors, according to the provincial prosecutor of Casma, Edwin Ramos.
