Counselor Hamada Al-Sawy, the Public Prosecutor, ordered the detention of a suspect responsible for a dog in Sheikh Zayed City pending investigation. For accusing him of wrongfully causing injury to his victim’s neighbor through his negligence and lack of precaution by leaving the dog untied or muzzled, which resulted in the dog biting the victim, severely injuring him, and entering him into a complete coma to date.

The Public Prosecution Office received a report on the twenty-seventh of last February from the victim’s wife stating that he had been injured and taken to the hospital and entered a coma following the accused’s dog bit him in the same property where they reside in a residential complex in Sheikh Zayed, so the Public Prosecution office launched investigations.

The prosecution listened to the statements of the victim’s family, a neighbor in the same property, and three workers in the residential complex, and the outcome of their statements in the investigations was that when the victim returned with his son to the property where they live, they saw the dog of the accused, free and not muzzled, on the balcony of his dwelling, and they were terrified of the state of his dwelling, and they were terrified. He went to the accused’s residence to request his rulings and his trust so that no one would have harm from him, so they knocked on the door of his residence and opened a worker for them, and the victim was surprised at the time of the dog’s attack on him and he was able to do so, and he was able to help him, And the victim escaped from him, following the victim was seriously injured as a result, and he was taken to the hospital for first aid, as his heart stopped while preparing for an urgent surgical intervention, so he was resuscitated and transferred to the intensive care room, and that his degree of consciousness is currently very weak and completely in a coma.

The Public Prosecution also concluded from the statements of the witnesses that the dog had previously attacked the victim and a neighbor on the same property, without making a statement to that effect, and that he was constantly attacking the neighbors on the street because he was able to jump from the top of the garden wall of the accused’s residence.

By interrogating the accused and the housemaid who witnessed the incident, the Public Prosecution Office claimed that the reason for the dog attacking the victim was his initiative to attack him for fear of him, contrary to what the victim’s son testified regarding the dog attacking the victim, and the police investigations confirmed the validity of the incident of the dog biting the victim, and accordingly The Public Prosecution ordered the accused to be remanded in custody pending investigations.

The dog, which caused the accident, following being caught in implementation of the decision of the Public Prosecution, was presented to the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Giza for examination, which confirmed that it was free of any abnormal symptoms, had received all necessary vaccinations, and was licensed for possession by the competent authority. Completion of investigations.

On the occasion of this case, the Public Prosecution indicates that the freedom of a person to raise animals for guarding or otherwise does not mean exposing people to danger, threatening their safety, intimidating their livelihood, or intimidating them with what might harm them. And benevolence to neighbors, and preserving the life and security of others, in an atmosphere of compassion, harmony and mutual care.
