A mental health consultant gives advice to parents on coping with bullying

Dr. Mona Hamdi, a mental health consultant, revealed the causes of bullying in children, noting: “Sometimes parents are the reason why their child is a bully or a victim of bullying.”

Mona Hamdi explained, during her meeting with the media, Azza Mustafa, presenter of the “Tahrir Hall” program, on the “Sada Al-Balad” channel, today, Sunday, that the main characteristic of the victim of bullying is psychological weakness, noting that bullying is aggressive behavior, with the aim of harming others.

The bully feels a lack of personality

And she continued, “The bully is a person who feels a lack of personality,” pointing out that this characteristic is acquired due to psychological crises that the person was exposed to during his childhood.

The role of parents

The mental health consultant added: “Parents must educate their children on psychological toughness, in order to enable them to confront psychological harm,” noting that the reason for bullying children is the parents, and studies have shown that the victim of bullying avoids bullies, and suffers bouts of unjustified crying and depression. .

She stressed that excessive love or cruelty leads a person to aggressive behavior, noting that the child works to compensate for this behavior by harming others.

Bullying leads to suicide

She pointed out that victims of bullying may have suicidal thoughts, stressing that parents should get close to their children, accompany them, strengthen their self-confidence, and teach them self-defense sports.

The mental health consultant concluded the meeting, that the new generation suffers from psychological fragility, and the person who suffers from this fragility affects his heart with severe contractions, and this may cause a heart attack and deaths, pointing out that self-confidence makes a person able to confront bullies.
