Mika Vermeulen showed his great talent over 50 km and showed a strong performance.
With a more than conciliatory 19th place, Mika Vermeulen delivered a strong performance in the final competition of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica. With warm temperatures and glorious weather, the Styrian showed a spirited race from the start and finally crossed the finish line with a deficit of 3:27.0 minutes within the top 20.
The result was all the more gratifying for the only 23-year-old Austrian, since he, like his teammate Teresa Stadlober, was unable to complete optimal preparation for today’s race due to health problems.
Mike Vermeulen: “If someone had told me on Sunday or Monday that I would be 19th, I would have said: OK, let’s take it. The conditions at the beginning were good, at the end it worked out well, then it got really wet. I rate my race as good to very good. The few days before that, the weeks before that, were definitely not easy, it was a tough race.”

In the fight for the last gold medal in Slovenia, the Norwegian Paal Golberg prevailed in the final sprint ahead of his compatriot Johannes Hoesflot Kläbo (+1.0) and the Swede William Poromaa (+1.2).
