End of work in Niamey of the ECOWAS parliament

The delocalized meeting of the ECOWAS parliament closed its work yesterday, with the adoption of sustainable solutions for seamless ICT roaming.

This work of the first relocated meeting of parliamentarians from ECOWAS member countries took place at the Bravia hotel in Niamey, under the chairmanship of the 3rd vice-president of the National Assembly of Niger, Mr. Zakara Karidjo, and the 4th vice-president president of the community parliament, Mrs. Adja Satu Camara.

In her closing speech, the 4th President of the Community Parliament, Ms. Adja Satu Camara, expressed her deep gratitude to all those who contributed directly or indirectly to the success of this delocalized meeting of the Mixed Commission. At the same time, she reiterated her sincere thanks to the President of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mohamed Bazoum, the Prime Minister, Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, the President of the National Assembly, Seini Oumarou, the Deputies of the National Assembly of Niger as well as to the people of Niger, for the hospitality and the warm disposition towards the parliamentarians.

Mrs. Adja Satu Camara expressed her satisfaction that the deliberations and contributions will lead to ways and means to find lasting solutions to the problems of roaming and to considerably reduce the cost of telephone data, which will constitute a shared progress in the West African region.

“The importance and benefits that these durable solutions will have on the sub-region and on people’s standard of living cannot be overemphasized,” she said.

In closing her remarks, the 4th vice-president of the community parliament, Ms. Adja Satu Camara, said she was impressed by the level of commitment and work accomplished during this meeting and the final result of the participants.

For his part, the 3rd vice-president of the National Assembly of Niger, Mr. Zakara Karidjo, expressed his gratitude to parliamentarians for the honor given to Niamey, capital of Niger, within the framework of the holding of this meeting, before wishing them a good return to their respective families. Seizing the opportunity, Mr. Zakara Karidjo also thanked and congratulated the members of the ECOWAS parliamentary committee for the work carried out to improve the living conditions of the populations.

Previously, the press committee of ECOWAS parliamentarians delivered motions of thanks, recommendations and project proposals to facilitate accessibility.
