More and more people are interested in taking microdoses of psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, to improve their mood. Although it is still illegal in Canada to obtain them, people who get their hands on these products note an improvement in their concentration or their mood. Dr. Patrick Marcotte, psychiatrist at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, takes stock of this new trend. It also discusses the benefits observed following the use of other products such as ketamine.

Dr. Patrick Marcotte points out that ketamine, which is partly approved by Health Canada, is mainly used to treat intractable depression. He adds that the results are promising. To the point where some people regain quality of life and a complete absence of thoughts of suicide even following years of treatment.
