The Brussels firefighters intervened this Friday evening around 10:45 p.m., rue du Béguinage in Brussels. A fire broke out on the second floor of the old hotel at the intersection with rue du Grand Hospice. The firefighters, in addition to attacking the flames using the ladder, had to force the entrance on the street side of the Grand Hospice. The firefighters found “a collection of various objects (including mattresses) on fire,” explains their spokesperson Walter Derieuw.
The emergency call had mentioned that someone was inside. Fortunately, following two searches, the firefighters found that no casualties were reported. The fire mobilized two pumpers, two ladder cars, a Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service (smur) and an ambulance. The police of the Bxl Capitale/XL zone were also on site to set up a security perimeter.
