Goalkeeper Kasimir Kaskisuo learned the hard way that he mightn’t get an official’s attention by throwing his water bottle at him.
The Finnish goalkeeper, who plays with club Leksands IF in the Swedish first division, was suspended for five games for the gesture he committed during a 3-2 defeat once morest the team HV 71.
After the final whistle, the former Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators hit the back of a referee’s head with his bottle some distance from the net.
Even though the gesture poses no risk of injury, according to the Swedish circuit, it should be reprimanded for its “deliberate and inappropriate” nature.
Leksands IF led the game 2-0 before conceding three consecutive goals, which may explain the masked man’s anger.
Kaskisuo is in his second campaign in Sweden, having played two small games in the National Hockey League.
This season, he’s posted a .879 save percentage and a 3-9-0 record in 14 games.
