Police officers from Halton, municipalities near Toronto in Ontario, arrested a suspect on Thursday in connection with the murders of two young men, killed by firearm in Montreal West last July. These were the 14e et 15e homicides in Montreal in 2022.

The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed because he is under the age of 18, appeared by visual appearance at the Court of Quebec, before a judge of the Youth Division, Thursday followingnoon, indicated the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) in a press release.

He was wanted by the SPVM in connection with the 14e et 15e homicides that occurred in Montreal in 2022. He will be repatriated to Quebec for the rest of the legal proceedings, specifies the SPVM.

The night had been eventful, July 28, 2022, when three shootings in three hours left two dead and two seriously injured in Montreal.

Around 2 a.m., two young men aged 17 and 18 (according to the SPVM) were traveling in a vehicle at the corner of Promenade Ronald and Chemin Avon, in Montreal West, when they had been the target of firearm projectiles.

One of the victims died at the scene, the second was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two deceased were not known to police.

At that time, two men had been arrested in connection with the event, the SPVM said, but their involvement in the case remained to be determined.

The double murder had caused concern in this residential area where there are several apartments and a daycare center.
