Han Dong-hoon, in the Democratic Party’s proposal for the Special Prosecutors’ Act, “Lee Jae-myeong directly determines the prosecutor to investigate”

Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon criticized the Democratic Party’s so-called ‘Special Prosecution Act for the 5 Billion Club’, saying, “CEO Lee Jae-myeong, who is the target of the investigation, decides the prosecutor to investigate.”

When asked regarding his position on the proposal of the special prosecutor bill that day, Minister Han said, “According to the Daejang-dong Special Prosecutor Act, which was proposed by the Democratic Party today, the special prosecutor is in fact designated by CEO Lee Jae-myung.”

He continued, “The right to recommend both candidates is in the’National Assembly negotiating group to which the president does not belong,’ but only the Democratic Party. Representative Lee Jae-myung, who is the target of the investigation, decides the prosecutor to investigate, and it goes without saying why that makes no sense.”

Previously, the Democratic Party submitted a bill to the National Assembly Legislation Section on the appointment of a special prosecutor to find out the truth regarding the suspicion of receiving illegal funds and unfair transactions by those involved in the Daejang-dong development project, such as the so-called ‘5 billion club’.

Regarding the appointment of the special prosecutor, the National Assembly negotiating group, to which the president does not belong, recommended two, and the president appointed one of them.

The Special Prosecution Act includes ▲ Suspicion of receiving illegal funds and unfair profits from those involved in the Daejang-dong development project, such as the 5 billion club ▲ Suspicion of illegal business funds and development profits for the development of Daejang-dong ▲ Preferential real estate transaction for those involved in the Daejang-dong development project, such as the owner of No. 3 ‘Chunhwa Dongin’ and to investigate allegations of illegal activities.
