The Egyptian club Al-Ahly announced its apology for participating in the Arab Football Clubs Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next summer.
Al-Ahly stated, in a statement that it posted on its official accounts on social media, that it had sent a letter to the Egyptian Federation for the game, in which it expressed its appreciation for the invitation extended to him to participate in the tournament.
In his statement, Al-Ahly attributed the reason for the apology for not participating in the tournament, to the cohesion of the past three seasons and the pressure of successive matches, which resulted in the injury of a large number of players.
He added that the current season of the Egyptian League championship will end on July 15th, while the Arab Championship competitions will start on the 20th of the same month and end on August 5th, which will result in Al-Ahly players not having any rest periods between the two seasons, and the technical staff will not be able to establish A preparation period for the new season, which will start on the first of next September.
Al-Ahly leads the Egyptian League standings with 41 points, and it ranks third in its group in the African Champions League with one point, which includes the Sudanese Al-Hilal teams, the South African Sun Downs and the Cameroonian Cotton.
