During the Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC23) in Barcelona, Huawei and Saudi Arabia’s leading telecom operator Zain KSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation for the joint innovation project “5.5G City”. The MoU was signed during MWC23 held in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd.

Signing of the MdE between Zain KSA and Huawei in Barcelona
Under the MoU, both parties will work together to advance technology innovation for the 5.5G evolution and expand scalable offerings to individual, corporate and government customers. In addition, they will strengthen the digital infrastructure and build a pioneering global network in the evolution of 5.5G, providing a solid mechanism to achieve the national digitization targets outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.
Zain KSA and Huawei will work together to enhance technology innovation, improve user experience and develop new use cases. The collaboration will involve delivering a seamless gigabit experience in indoor and outdoor scenarios through the large-scale deployment of MetaAAU and 5G carrier aggregation, as well as LampSite digital indoor solutions. In addition, initiatives will be taken to improve the performance of Massive MIMO networks and develop end-to-end autonomous network operation and optimization capabilities. Both parties will also work together to develop new use cases for the Internet of Things (IoT) and private networking solutions. Finally, the partnership will explore innovative cooperation in areas such as ultra-compact site and green energy solutions, among others.
