Jackson Heights (New York) ∙ Northeast American Bhadrasana Family and Youth Conference of Malankara Orthodox Syriac Church has opened registration at St. Mary’s Orthodox Parish in Jackson Heights. On Sunday, February 26, the Family and Youth Conference team visited the parish. After the holy mass, there was a kick-off meeting.
Vicar Fr. John Thomas welcomed the conference delegates. On the importance of attending the conference, Fr. John Thomas spoke and urged the parishioners to enjoy the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Centre, the venue of this year’s conference. Saji M. led the conference team consisting of Mathew Joshua (Treasurer), Mathew Varghese and Mary Varghese (Family Conference Committee Members). Pothan (Conference Finance Manager) introduced.
Saji M. Pothan gave the details including the date and topic of the conference. Mathew Joshua explained the registration process while Mathew Varghese talked regarding sponsorship and souvenirs. Mary Varghese focused on women empowerment and requested all Martha Mariam Samaj members to register.
Jeni Thomas Rahman (Parish Secretary), John Tamaravelil (Parish Treasurer/ Bhadrasana Assembly Member) and Geevarghese Jacob (Malankara Association Member/ Bhadrasana Assembly Member) were present on the stage. John Tamaravelil thanked the conference team that visited the parish and reminded everyone that the church members had been very active in all previous family conferences.
The parish vicar handed over the souvenir greetings from the church to the conference team. LC Kutty Mathew contributed as the Grand Sponsor. Shibu Thomas, CG Jacob, Jaffee John, CB Jacob, Biju Tarian and many other parishioners extended their support to the souvenir by sending greetings and advertisements. The conference will be held from July 12 to 15, 2023 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center in North East American Bhadrasana. Dr. Abhiwandya, Vice President, Europe/Africa Abraham Mar Stefanos Metropolitan will be the keynote speaker. South West American Bhadrasana Youth Minister Fr. Matt Alexander will lead the youth sessions.
