The union of employees of mobile operators in Lebanon, Alfa and Touch, yesterday called on the management of the two companies to take an immediate decision to give employees their salaries “at their real market value”.
This request was made when the operators increased their prices on Wednesday evening following an intervention by the Banque du Liban on the market. This notably increased the rate of the Sayrafa platform – used to calculate mobile phone tariffs – from 45,400 to 70,000 pounds to the dollar.
In its press release, the union demanded that the management of the two companies “give the employees all of their rights and a salary at its full value”, without further details. This claim was made following the recent financial decisions that affected all citizens. The union also said it was ready to “take an appropriate decision, within the legal and constitutional framework”, if its request is not met quickly.
