The team confirmed on Thursday that Stroll has recovered from his hand injury sufficiently to compete in the first Grand Prix weekend of the year following missing the pre-season test in Bahrain.

“It was frustrating not being able to attend the pre-season test in Bahrain and I was disappointed to miss the three days,” said Stroll.

“However, given the injury to my wrist, the team and I felt it best to focus on recovery so I’m ready for this weekend and the long season ahead.”

Commenting on the bicycle accident in which he injured his wrist, the Canadian says: “I fell off my bike when my tire hit a hole in the ground – but luckily the damage wasn’t extensive and I had a successful minor operation on my right wrist fixed the problem very quickly.”

“Since then I’ve been working hard with my team to make sure I’m back to full fitness this weekend.”
