The police in Carinthia caught a suspected smuggler on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Tajik is said to have transported 15 people in a van, the Carinthian state police said on Thursday night. The man was caught in the St. Veit an der Glan district following letting the illegal migrants get out of his car in the border town of Thörl-Maglern (Villach-Land district). They were two Moroccans and 13 Bangladeshis.
As the broadcast went on to say, the police were informed at 10.30 a.m. that at the sports field in the town of Thörl-Maglern, which borders Italy, several people who were probably staying illegally in the state had got out of a van with a Viennese number plate. The police officers were then able to stop and arrest the people who had got out. In addition, a search was launched for the tractor vehicle, which was stopped in the St. Veit an der Glan district. The driver was taken to the Klagenfurt prison on suspicion of commercial towing as a member of a criminal organization.
