Middle-aged woman in Baitian village suspected of slaughtering cats and cooking at home was arrested

Someone in Pak Tin Village, Sham Shui Po was arrested for slaughtering cats for food and is being detained for investigation. A 58-year-old woman was arrested for “slaughtering dogs or cats for food”. It is reported that she lives alone in a unit in Jiantian Building and has a record of emotional illness.

The police received a report at 9 a.m. yesterday. A middle-aged woman in Jiantian Building entered the unit holding a sharp weapon. There was hair on the knife. Neighbors found it and called the police. The police arrived at the scene following receiving the report. Some people refused to open the door at first, but they were willing to open the door following being persuaded. When the police entered the house, they found that there was a dehaired cat body in the toilet of the unit, soaked in water, and a knife regarding 32 centimeters in length was placed nearby. Preliminary investigation revealed that the female resident had taken the dead cat from the area earlier and brought it back to the unit for cooking.

The Society for the Protection of Animals replied that the dead cat involved was a female local short-haired cat, and the remains were temporarily stored in the Love Society Center and will be handed over to the Laboratory of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
