The baby fell on a changing table, this fall causing a fracture of the skull and a cerebral hemorrhage.
The incident happened Monday morning around 10:30 a.m.
The foster mother said she was holding the child in her arms when he slipped from her and fell on the changing table.
“She stands by her initial statement, but according to the findings of the forensic doctor, this statement is not compatible with the injuries suffered by the baby,” said the Leuven prosecutor’s office to our colleagues from HLN, who opened an investigation for assault and battery.
On Monday, the baby was resuscitated and taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull and a brain haemorrhage. He is now kept in an induced coma and is still in critical condition.
