A very cool feature, released with iOS 15, allows the system to recognize and identify objects (such as plants, statues and works of art), as well as pets that may be present in your images from the native app Photos (Photos). It’s the call Visual Search (Visual Lookup).
A single caveat is that this feature is not yet widely available in several languages — that’s right: Portuguese (Brazil or Portugal) is not yet covered.
The good news is that you can still enjoy it, just change the language and region of the devices you want to use (be it an iPhone, iPad or Mac).
See how it works in practice below! ????
Supported languages and regions
- English (United States, Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, United Kingdom)
- Spanish (Mexico and Spain)
- French (France)
- German (Germany)
- Italian
- Japanese
After that, it’s time to change the language and region of your device.
After that, let’s use the resource in practice!
How to use Visual Search
No iPhone/iPad
On iPhone/iPad, choose the desired image and open it in full screen. Then tap the “i” at the bottom. On supported images, you’ll see two stars next to it.
select “Look Up”below the area where you can add a description, to see what Siri Knows knows regarding the photo.
No Mac
On Mac, open Photos and choose the image you want. Then, in the top bar, click on the “i” next to two stars to open the information menu. In the image, if Siri recognizes something, click the Visual Search icon.
Cool, isn’t it?! ????
