Ousmane Sonko, after a year as mayor of Ziguinchor, the economic report

The newspaper Le Soleil has drawn up the economic balance sheet of Ousmane Sonko, following a year at the head of the town hall of Ziguinchor. The newspaper concludes that the president of Pastef “has not yet carried out the major projects that might contribute to the emergence of the city“. That he “delays in satisfying certain grievances of the populations» : «failing public lighting to be improved, continuation of the paving operations of certain streets, delay in the implementation of its program of the social and solidarity economy, resolution of land disputes, etc..».

«The environment remains the same, reports Amath Sall, a Ziguinchorois interviewed by Le Soleil. Mayor Ousmane Sonko is lucky because the people are with him. Otherwise, there would already be demonstrations in the city to invite him to work more. Apart from the municipal civic service that he installed and (which is) made up of young people committed to the cause of the municipality, the mayor has not yet done anything».

Amath Sall invites the successor of Abdoulaye Baldé “to first make the management of the town hall of Ziguinchor its main priority while waiting for the battle of 2024».

Ousmane Sonko, on the other hand, can pride himself on having inflated the budget of the town hall of Ziguinchor by 2 billion CFA francs. This is stopped for 2023 at 5 billion. In addition, he had reversed the trend, compared to his predecessor, in the use of municipal funds. Where under Abdoulaye Baldé 83% of the budget went to operations, 16% to investment, the president of Pastef decided to allocate 60% to the second item and 40% to the first.
