Marked by a difficult international context, the Swiss economy experienced a slowdown at the end of the year. After growth of 0.2% in the third quarter, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Confederation stagnated in the last quarter of 2022, according to figures adjusted for sporting events – for example the income generated by events like the World Cup of football that cause variations in GDP – published this Tuesday by the State Secretariat for the Economy (Seco). Over the year, growth therefore amounted to 2.1% once morest 4.2% in 2021.
