Answering an old desire of many users, WhatsApp has added a new function to its application. As anticipated by the web workshopthe function of “Multiple Devices” it was already being tested by WhatsApp Beta users, and last year it was finally released to all users. The feature allows you to use the same account on different devices, without depending on the cell phone connected to the internet.
What is WhatsApp’s “Multi-Device” feature?
The “Multiple Devices” feature is available to all users of the platform, whether you have an Android or iOS smartphone. Among the many advantages, this new function came to solve an old problem. It is no longer necessary to have your phone connected to the internet to log into WhatsApp Web or the Desktop version.
The feature allows you to use the same account in up to four devices autonomouslymaintaining synchronization between the connected devices for messages that are sent or received in the application, as it already happens when accessed via the app on the smartphone and the web version simultaneously.
However, although it does not require the cell phone to be connected to the internet, to manage the connected devices, it is still necessary to use the cell phone to perform the first configuration, where the “Connected Devices” option appears.
How to enable “Multiple Devices” on WhatsApp?
Initially, to use the Multiple Devices feature it was necessary to be enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program. Those who did not have WhatsApp Beta, when connecting the cell phone to the computer, were held hostage to always using it with an active internet connection. When there was no active internet on the cell phone, WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop on the PC did not work.
With the arrival of the Multiple Devices feature, you can enjoy the same WhatsApp experience on different devices and without being dependent on each of them. And the best, the step by step is very simple:
Step by step
1. Open WhasApp, go to us three dots and tap “Connected Appliances”;
2. Tap the option “Connect a Device” and enter your credentials, whether digital or PIN;
3. After authorizing the connection, your cell phone’s camera will open. Open WhatsApp Web ( and point your cell phone at the QR Code that is displayed on the PC screen.
Ready! Now you can use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices and even if your cell phone runs out of internet or battery, WhatsApp will continue to work on other authorized devices. If you want to connect more than one device, just repeat the process, but remember that the limit is four devices.
bugs fixed
The first few times we used the Multiple Devices function in WhatsApp, we identified some bugs and problems. For example, groups in which only one person participated did not appear on this second device and it was not possible to pin any conversation. Fortunately, today it is already possible to use all the features commonly found in WhatsApp without any bugs.
