Engie – by far the leading supplier of electricity and natural gas on the Belgian market – will also not offer fixed contracts in March, a company spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday. The energy producer and supplier claims to monitor the market continuously but therefore only offers variable contracts for the moment.
Since the energy crisis following the war in Ukraine, new fixed contracts have become very rare. When energy prices reached unprecedented levels last year, suppliers effectively stopped offering new fixed-price supply contracts. With variable contracts, the price depends on price fluctuations in the energy market.
Only Luminus has been offering fixed contracts since January and Mega is also offering a fixed plan to some existing customers.
