– Elon Musk is the leader once more
The Tesla CEO was ousted from the top spot in December last year by Bernard Arnault, head of French luxury brand LVMH. The two daughters of ex-Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher are in 302nd and 316th place.
Elon Musk is back at the top of the list of the richest people in the world. The Tesla boss replaced Bernard Arnault, head of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), the largest luxury group in the world, as the front runner.
While Tesla shares fell last year amid Musk’s turbulent takeover of Twitter and a bear market in the tech space, shares of the electric-vehicle maker have soared this year. Musk, who is also the head of Twitter and SpaceX, is worth $187.1 billion following the market close on Monday, according to Bloomberg.
Arnault’s own net worth is $185 billion, according to Bloomberg. In December, he overtook Elon Musk on the super-rich list, becoming the first European to take the top spot.
The richest woman is industrialist heiress and author Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers (L’Oréal) with a fortune of $79.9 billion. The richest Chinese (66.8) is Zhong Shanshan, who founded and runs the largest beverage company in China.
The richest Japanese, Tadashi Yanai, founder of the largest clothing company in Asia, has almost half of Shanshan’s fortune (30.6).
The richest Swiss
In the ranking of the richest Swiss, the Bertarelli family (Serono) is ahead of Gianluigi Aponte. Aponte has built up the largest fleet of ships in the world with cargo and cruise ships. The third richest Swiss is Guillaume Pousaz, founder of Checkout.com. The Blochers follow closely behind.
The two daughters of ex-SVP Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher are in the ranking of the richest people in the world in places 302 and 316. Their assets are said to be around 7 billion dollars (around 6.5 billion francs) each.
