The micro-blogging site “Twitter” witnessed a new wave of layoffs, in which it was remarkable that it included the employee who is described as “dedicated”, because she works so much that she sleeps in the office.
Earlier this week, Twitter announced the dismissal of 200 employees, who make up regarding 10 percent of its remaining workforce.
After the new wave of layoffs, the number of Twitter employees has become less than 2,000, following it had regarding 7,500 employees when it was bought by the American billionaire, Elon Musk, last October.
The new wave of layoffs has targeted product executives, data experts and engineers.
And the British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the expulsion included the director of product management, Esther Crawford, whom she described as a dedicated employee, noting that she led the launch of the paid blue authentication mark service, at the beginning of the Musk era.
Crawford did not change her nickname on her Twitter account until Monday night, but she tweeted a statement implying that she had been laid off.
She wrote that the worst thing that happened to her while developing Twitter was that her optimism and hard work were wrong.
Crawford drew attention last November, when she supported Musk’s new approach on Twitter.
And I took a picture of her, showing her sleeping on a blanket on the floor of the “Twitter” office in late 2022, due to the backlog of work on her.
And she wrote on Twitter: “When the team works around the clock to get things done on time, sometimes you sleep in your workplace.”
The technical website “The Verge” said that the layoff process included the majority of Crawford’s team members, noting that the latter took over the leadership of several projects following Musk’s acquisition of “Twitter”, including the upcoming payments platform project on the site.
The site added that the dismissal of Crawford and most of her team may indicate that Musk wants to introduce a new system in Twitter.
