According to the daily short report from the Ministry of Defense in London, the marines of the 155th Brigade had to record an extremely high number of casualties. A satellite image was released that is said to show a cluster of destroyed Russian military vehicles south-east of the embattled Ukrainian city of Wuhledar.

There are only estimates of the number of dead and injured in what has now been a year-long war. According to the latest information, the British Ministry of Defense assumes a total of up to 200,000 victims on the Russian side. Among them are likely to be around 40,000 to 60,000 dead. Referring to Ukraine, the commander of the Norwegian armed forces, Kristoffersen, said in late January that he believed around 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed or wounded. However, his spokesman stressed to the British newspaper “Times” that nobody was able to give a more detailed overview at the moment. In fact, the number of victims might be both lower and higher.
