For several weeks, part of our Discord community plays around with older GPUs in an effort to get the best performance out of overclocking. So that’s what gave us the idea and above all the desire to dip our fingers back into old GPUs that we had the chance to test and which left us with an excellent impression. Of course, for the majority of them, they left the lab a long time ago, but not all of them. We had to go through the “second-hand” box and it is clear that second-hand prices are still very high and do not really reflect the power of the GPU compared to the current offer.
Our first choice therefore fell on a copy of the MSI R7870 Hawk that we had taken care to store in the lab in order to bring it out at the appropriate time, and here it is. Why this card? Quite simply because we still have all the tools and equipment in order to release the tensions with a view to a final passage under LN2 but which will be done initially on our DOD, a phase change system on which we will come back later in this article. This card can currently be found second-hand at around 50 euros.
