A Peñarol fan and another from Boston River were blacklisted by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) for having written a tweet with death threats once morest the referees.
Through Twitter, a group of followers began to write “what we have left now is to kill a judge.”
Prosecutor Fernando Romano took charge of the matter and said on Monday followingnoon in the “Último al Arco” program on Sport 890 that “through an AUF authority, I found out regarding the threatening tweets that were circulating of death towards a referee. As it was generic, I asked them to take statements from the authorities of the Uruguayan Association of Soccer Referees (Audaf) and today (this Monday) they went to make the complaint. There are three people already on the list of disabled, they are recognized and will surely be summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office this week”.
And he added: “There is a fourth who is a teenager who, although he has been identified, is difficult to locate, and there may even be a fifth.”
“They can be formalized by private violence or by threats, because with these threats, they are apparently looking for the attitude of the referees. That is why I would lean more towards private violence than a threat. We will see that when they come to the Prosecutor’s Office. None of the three have a criminal record,” Romano said.
Initially, Romano had said that the fans were from Cerro, but later he called the program to clarify the mistake and apologize to Cerro.
“These fans are from Peñarol and Boston River, and the other three still do not have confirmation of which teams they are,” he said.
