After eight days of an intense search operation, the authorities of Comodoro Rivadavia they managed to find the body of Diego Barría, a 32-year-old man reported missing. It all started following a warning from some fishermen, who last night reported the discovery of human remains inside a captured shark.
It was Barría’s own relatives who recognized a colored tattoo in the discovery.
It was in the early hours of the morning when personnel from the Naval Prefecture responded to the call of two fishermen from Caleta Córdova who reported having found human remains in a 1.50 meter dogfish.
The police reported that the discovery occurred “when removing the visors” of the animal, where “dermis, fat and human meat” were found. She also spotted “a pink, green and red tattoo with an illegible inscription. The relatives recognized the tattoo as that of the disappeared citizen, Diego Barría”.
After intervention by Criminalistics personnel, the remains in question were taken to the Judicial Morgue.
Hours before, the glasses had been found in the area inside a case belonging to the missing man. Sources from the prosecution assured that different hypotheses are being handled at the moment. Nor is it ruled out an accident or possible homicide.
Where are you, my crafty?: a desperate request
Barria had disappeared last Saturday night. He left on February 18 in his quad for a walk in the area of Rocas Coloradasa common site for fishermen in the north of Comodoro Rivadavia, and did not return.
A few days later, his vehicle was found with serious damage to its bodywork. From what was presumed, the young man might have been in an accident.
The man was 6’2″, had a stocky build, short straight brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing orange boots, black jogging pants, a white T-shirt, and a white jacket with the work ID “Vientos del Sur.” He also carried a backpack with field elements.
“Just a sign so I can find you, please. Give him my crazy, don’t leave me, I pray to God that you show up soon. Here I am waiting for you. don’t scare me like that”, Virginia, the wife of the disappeared, wrote in a Facebook post. A few hours later, she made another moving post. “I heard you speed up all night with the illusion that you were coming home. Where are you, my crafty?”, he posted next to an image of Diego on top of a truck.
He then thanked those who were helping in the search and praying for him. “We’re all praying for him to show up soon, don’t stop asking for him, let’s not lose faith. Don’t leave him alone, bring me Diego”, he expressed.
The rakes and the hypothesis of an accident
The rakes were carried out with dogs and with the help of the Naval Prefecture. In addition, air and sea searches were carried out. “No doubt there was an accident and The corresponding tests are being carried out to find out if another vehicle was involved”, he added.
The police chief indicated that the hypotheses that are being handled is that following the accident “he may have walked out or been caught by the tide”, taking into account that the “the sea dragged the seat and left it on the coast”.
The unit chief of the Comodoro Rivadavia Regional Unit, Christian Ansaldo, highlighted this followingnoon that no hypothesis is ruled out and stressed that “everything is a reason for investigation. Everything is under investigation”.
He also confirmed that the search for new remains will continue. On Sunday morning, Prefectural divers began to work in the area, with the aim of finding new findings.
